December Travels, 2009

This past December I have been fortunate to travel first to Lesotho and then later on a Botswana bus tour of Namibia. I have already posted a few photos of the Drakensberg in South Africa and the country of Lesotho where I hiked and pony trekked with a few volunteers. Now I will post a few photos from a trip to Namibia where we spent Xmas. Namibia is a contrasts-sand dunes and ocean coasts, mountains, game reserves, local indigenous groups such as the Herero, Nama and Ovahimba people as well as Germans, Portuguese, English and South Africans. We visited the capital, Windhoek, and two coastal towns of Swapkomund and Walvis Bay, an upcoming port for shipments to Africa. Both trips were fun and I would like to return and see more of each of these parts of Southern Africa. I would hope that you all would have an opportunity to see and explore these and other scenic places in Africa.
